Officer Palmer Promoted to Corporal

Interim Police Chief James B. Dixon promoted Tad Palmer, a 4-year veteran of UPD, to corporal at a ceremony in front of the headquarters on Sept. 2. Palmer, also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, began his law enforcement career in 1995. He has served with the police departments in Corsicana and Allen, Texas and with the University of Texas System Police at UT Dallas. He has worked as a bike patrol officer, advanced accident Investigator, and a mounted patrol officer. Palmer helped establish the community relations unit for Alllen PD, and he is a TASER and firearms instructor.

He and his wife of 19 years, Penny,  have five children and four grandchildren.  His youngest son Max, did the honor of pinning his father's badge when he began his career at UPD and again for his promotion. Max will follow in his father's footsteps in service this November as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Navy.
