Texas State University’s Police Department is hosting the national Leave No Victim Behind conference February 23 and 24, 2026.

The Texas State University Police Department (UPD) is proud to announce the return of the Leave No Victim Behind (LNVB) conference to Texas State University for the third time. Scheduled for February 23 and 24, 2026, this year’s summit, Leave No Victim Behind VIII: The Sacredness of Survival, will transition to a national virtual format to ensure accessibility for victim service professionals and survivors worldwide.
The conference is steered by two veteran leaders in the field: Texas State University Police Chief Matthew Carmichael, who serves as the LNVB Executive Director, and Co-Director Anita Ahuja, a veteran victim services advocate with over 23 years of experience. Ahuja, who recently served as the director of the Maui County Family Assistance Center following the 2023 wildfires, joins Chief Carmichael in bridging the gap between immediate law enforcement response and long-term community recovery.

Focusing on Global Resilience and Internation Testimony

This installment of the national series will feature a powerful lineup of international speakers, including two survivors of the October 7th massacre in Israel:
