Chief Carmichael, a seasoned law enforcement professional with 40 years of experience, began his policing career in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1985. Now, he brings his extensive expertise to Texas State University, where he is dedicated to enhancing the safety and security of the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses.
Throughout his distinguished career, Chief Carmichael has held various leadership roles, including serving as a police chief in both California and Oregon. He has also undertaken numerous law enforcement special assignments. Beyond his professional duties, he is an avid community volunteer and a trained police chaplain, demonstrating his commitment to serving others both on and off duty.
